This piece is also on Fabriano Artistico 300 lb. Hot Press watercolor paper. I painted the background with acrylic ink before I went to the Bell Museum to sketch.
I used Derwent Graphitints Indigo, Autumn Brown, and Ocean Blue with a Niji Waterbrush. All the colors were layered, wetted with the brush, allowed to dry, and reworked. The white Graphitint didn't show up when I was working at the museum so I waited until I returned to the studio and then drew in the whiskers using Indigo. With a very fine brush I used a single stroke of ProWhite, over the whisker pencil lines, to make the white whiskers pop. |
