This is a quick sketch of the whole scene where the pigeons were bathing. They flew away, and I'd sketched some ducks in the interim, but to the top left you can see the little grass filled planter box that they were sitting on the rim of. Those were beautiful Irises in the front, by the fence before me.

I found the week a difficult balance. I didn't take enough photos and I didn't sketch enough. At times I would do one instead of the other, in part because I had two traveling companions and we were looking for sketching spots that would suit all of us. But there was also an agitation that I only had a few days to see and I had to remind myself to slow down.
