This is another 8 x 10 inch Fredrix Watercolor Canvas board. (Which again means the bird is many times larger than life.) I worked on the board first in inks and acrylic paint. In some places I created a texture of gold patterns by stamping a carving I made with gold acrylic paint. This pattern shows through in some areas where I have rubbed the top layers of paint away. The bird, a finch that was living in the aviary of a nursing home I was visiting this fall, is painted in gouache. |
