My friend Danny Gregory was having a "sketch crawl" in NYC. (A group of people get together and go place to place sketching.) I thought some of the people who subscribe to his list (Everyday Matters) might enjoy doing one in Minneapolis. Since I'm out sketching a lot it seemed an easy thing to invite others along.
A posting however, only generated one response. That new sketcher met with me and my friends Janice, Ken, and Roberta, at the Bell Museum, for an afternoon of sketching.
The Avidors are both artists and you can see their work at www.avidorstudios.com. Roberta did a fantastic rendering of the entire beaver diorama. Ken did several sketches but focused on the moose diorama. Janice and I didn't do any speed drawing, but we worked so quickly we might as well have been. We moved about quite a lot. It was a fun day which ended with us sittiing in a back hall by some of the smaller dioramas rummaging through each other's journals.
