bookbinding

Still fascinated by the possibilities of printing my images on fabric I decided to make a journal bag. This bag, which is about 9 x 11 inches is made of cotton and linen fabrics. The image of the wood duck is one that I sketched in my visual journal while doing a demonstration at the Bell Museum. I printed it out on cotton fabric. It makes a front pocket to the journal bag. The closure of the bag is an antique mother-of-pearl button with some blue glass beads on the hoop.

I am particularly struck with how the character of my gouache washes on my sketch translated faithfully to the fabric. This is very fun technology. (The original sketch was made with a Pentel Pocket Brush Pen and gouache.)
