I filled so many pages with the Kansas City trip that I needed a new journal shortly after returning home. I had one large journal still remaining from when I was doing the Daily Dots. It is 8 x 10 inches. The above sketch is LARGE.
It's a moose head in the touch and see room of the Bell Museum of Natural History at the University of Minnesota. The great thing is that because this is a room for kids they have mounted the head low on the wall. If I'm standing I can look down on it (and I'm short!). I chose to sit on the floor and look up slightly.
This journal is thick and I had a horrible time trying to scan the sketch. But even with the off kilter gutter deep in shadow you can get the idea. I was having a lot of fun. It was HOT in the museum (they don't have air conditioning) and I just surrendered to the fun of drawing lines, lines, lines, to keep my mind off the heat.
The drawing paper I used for the pages of this book is actually bright white. I was using Staedtler Pigment Liner 03 here. I actually ran out of time because the museum was closing. I'll have to go back and make more sketches.
