While Roberta made her way through the Fine Arts exhibit I wandered around watching the families on the kiddie rides (these rides tend to stay close to the ground, spin simply in one direction, and move more slowly than the teen-aimed rides), and watched the Skateboard Exhibition.

On this spread I wrote about what the anouncer was saying and what I was observing. On the recto page (shown) I started to draw one of the skateboarders (you can see his skateboard tilted up at the bottom left of the page). He was standing on a platform waiting to slide into an obstacle course and perform. There were about 6 boys from ages 10 to 16 performing leaps and slides along rails and spins in the air. I had hoped to finish some facial features on this boy but seconds after I got to this point in my drawing he went for another run and had a horrible crash. They had to carry him off. Later, the announcer said he would be OK; on my final trip to the Fair I saw this young man performing again.
