I ventured into the amonia rich atmosphere of the chicken and rabbit barn by myself. I had finished all the pages in my journal, but I had a wirebound journal of Arches cold press watercolor paper. It isn't a watercolor paper that I like much, but it was easy to grab in the morning when Roberta said she'd like to stay as long as possible. I thought I might need some more paper. (I ended up giving the wirebound journal to Roberta after tearing this sheet out. She actually likes that paper.)
Since all papers are different I had to adjust my water and paint levels on this paper. (Another little bit of excitement for the day.) I went darker with the ink, enjoying the freedom of having black ink mixing with the paint (I don't have black pigment on my palette). Later, at home, I glued the page into the inside front of the journal, opposite the title page.
See a detail of the rooster's head.
