These sketches are on Nideggen paper (which has a wavy laid pattern and is a delightful sand color with gray flecks). They are sketchs of Tapirs at the Minnesota Zoo. This sketchbook is about 7 x 9 inches. While thin, this paper has a nice opacity to it and doesn't buckle much when painted on.

I drew and painted these as a class demo in a nature journaling class. I find that Tapirs are challenging subjects as their body shapes don't conform to our preconceived notions. We are forced, more than usual, to observe and not cheat.
